Mhairi in Sri Lanka
I am in Asia at the moment, on my first trip to see the work that you support for myself. Over the weekend I arrived in India to visit some for the projects that you support, helping people affected by leprosy. I hope to be able to share a few details of where I go and who I meet in the coming days.
But for the last week, I have been in Sri Lanka, attending the Asia Learning Workshop where I have got to meet some of the Programmes Team at The Leprosy Mission England and Wales along with project workers from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Bangladesh.
The workshop has been an opportunity for the staff in these countries to come together for some shared learning and for me to gain a deeper insight into some of the work going on in those countries.
We have been covering topics such as Integral Mission and Sustainability, and it has been interesting for me to hear about some of the successes and the challenges each country has.
The focus has been on ways in which holistic care is given to people affected by leprosy, for their spiritual and mental wellbeing and ensuring they know the fullness of life as in John 10:10.
It has been a wonderful experience with great learning and insight which I look forward to sharing in more depth when I get back to the Scotland.
