Meet our Staff

Our small team of 4 staff are all committed to seeing leprosy become a thing of the past. They are all here to help you in different ways to be a part of making that happen.

Stuart McAra, Head of Engagement

Stuart joined The Leprosy Mission Scotland in 2004 as our Area Co-ordinator for South and Central Scotland. Since then his role has expanded to take on responsibility for all of our communications materials including writing and editing this website, our social media presence, our supporter magazine, Dòchas, presentations used by staff and volunteers in churches across the country and now, most of our fundraising too. He says his favourite part of his job is those rare occasions when he gets to travel to visit our partner countries to see first hand the work we support to support and care for people affected by leprosy. Back in Scotland it’s when he goes out to visit church and community groups to share stories of our ministry with interested people across the country.

Stuart lives near Edinburgh, he is married and has a son. He is a member of a church in the city where he and his wife are home group leaders and he is on the church’s missions support and promotion team. He sings with the exile choir. Occasionally he makes a poor attempt to play the guitar and an ever poorer one to play golf.

Mhairi Dawson, Head of Supporter Care and Volunteer Development

Mhairi has been working with The Leprosy Mission Scotland since 2014 as Support Services Administrator. Her role is varied but she mainly leads a team of volunteers in providing supporter care by dealing with enquiries and requests, processing donations and updating our database. She also oversees the running of our shop and the stalls which go out to various places.

Mhairi lives in Clackmannanshire and serves as an elder in the United Free Church. She likes reading and from time to time gets a bit crafty with some card making.
